Richard Russell – The Greatest And Most Destructive Of All Bear Markets Is Coming, Gold, The Great Unwind And A Critical Lesson
http://kingworldnews.com/richard-russell-the-greatest-and-most-destructive-of-all-bear-markets-is-coming-gold-the-great-unwind-and-an-important-lesson-from-genesis/
"Twelve-term congressman Ron Paul tells this story: "I once rode alongside President Reagan on his helicopter, and the subject of what was happening to our money came up. 'Ron,' the president told me, 'No great nation that abandoned the gold standard has remained a great nation.'"Ron Paul also talked about a conversation with Alan Greenspan. "He told me he still stands by his original thesis, which was published decades ago. He wrote, 'In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings, and confiscation through inflation. There is no safe store of value.'"

Richard Russell - America In Trouble As Gold War Rages
http://kingworldnews.com/kingworldnews/KWN_DailyWeb/Entries/2013/8/20_Richard_Russell_-_America_In_Trouble_As_Gold_War_Rages.html
Speaking of gold, I was amazed that there was absolutely no mention of gold's brilliant performance last week in Barron's or any other newspaper.
Evidently, nobody wanted to even mention gold's upside breakout. Just a complete silence on gold -- amazing. When gold was falling, it was the talk of the town.

Richard Russell on Bull Markets
“The hardest thing to do in a bull market is to take a position and then to refrain from trading. When you trade, you're most likely to trade out of the bull market just before the next advance. Gold has one great advantage -- you never have to worry about gold going bankrupt. Thus, you can hold actual gold with impunity. The best way to handle actual gold in a bull market is to accumulate --never sell, but just continue to accumulate.” - Richard Russell

Richard Russell quote on Goldman Sachs Short Call on Gold
Mighty Goldman Sachs even got into the act by predicting
publicly that gold was headed lower, and hinting that gold might even be
a short candidate. The newspapers and the media in general jumped on
the ‘we hate gold’ bandwagon. It was unanimous. ‘Gold is a worthless
relic of prehistoric times. If you own it, get rid of it, before you
lose your shirt.’ But after the crash Goldman suddenly rescinded its
bearish forecast on gold, and the gold-hating propaganda calmed down. …
Actually when Goldman dropped their bearish forecast on gold, I assumed
that Goldman had bought all the gold that they wanted. Net result, a
good many of the big boys plus many central banks grabbed all the gold
they desired at bargain prices. The great gold panic ended with a thud,
and the big money got what they wanted—all at fire sale prices. –Richard Russell in DOW THEORY LETTERS(May 1)

Richard Russell comments
The US is now borrowing money to pay for the interest on our national debt. The US now borrows roughly 46 cents for every dollar that it spends. We’ve finally come to the point where our foreign creditors no longer want to lend money to the US to cover our outrageous debts. What’s next? The Federal Reserve is now buying the US’s bonds. How does the Fed pay for the bonds? The Federal Reserve pays for the bonds with money that it CREATES out of thin air. This process is systematically shrinking the purchasing power of the "dollar." And worse, the world is fully aware of it. Almost every nation is now moving to protect itself against the shrinking purchasing power of the dollars in their reserves. So far, Americans seem totally unaware of what is happening to their dollars. The government is lying about inflation in our lives. Yet we see inflation in our energy and gas bills, in the price we pay for food at the supermarkets, in the cost of imported goods, in our medical bills, in college tuition, and in almost everything else.
The real danger in all this is that the move away from dollars is accelerating. At some point in the weeks or months ahead, the "escape from the dollar" will break out into the open. At that time interest rates will suddenly and automatically rise, as the dollar is forced to defend itself (higher rates render the dollar more attractive to our creditors). When rates start to rise, the bond market will begin to crumble. The exact timing of all this is impossible to predict. But that doesn’t matter — the implications of a bond crash are so ominous that they transcend precise timing. The time to prepare for safety is now.
Ultimate safety lies in actual gold in your possession. If the US government really cared about its people, it would now (like China) be urging Americans to accumulate gold for their protection. Instead, Uncle Sam insists that gold is not money, and worse — does its best to hold the price of gold down.
The physical gold and silver market continues with high demand, expanding premiums... - Richard Russell, April 25, 2013.

Richard Russell - Gold Will Break to New All-Time Highs
The 150-day moving average currently is at $1492. In other words, a drop to that level today would still mean the decade-long bull market in gold is still intact. Of course, the moving average will move higher going forward (since gold has had a strong upward move over the last 150 days), so support levels will rise over time. The take away message is corrections are healthy for bull markets, allowing prices to consolidate in an orderly manner. It also builds a base from which the next leg up can materialize.

Richard Russell: Rising gold signals death of USDollar
http://kingworldnews.com/kingworldnews/KWN_DailyWeb/Entries/2010/10/4_Richard_Russell_-_Rising_Gold_Signals_Death_Knoll_For_US_Dollar.html
In 1971 (Vietnam and deficits) when foreign nations (particularly France), demanded that the US settle its deficits with gold (as specified in the Bretton Woods Agreements), Richard Nixon and staff were worried about our disappearing gold reserves. Their answer to settling our debts in gold was a resounding and historic "no." In doing so, they shut the gold window. Thus, the time-honored link between the US dollar and gold was broken. The US would no longer give up its gold to settle its international debts. At that point, the US and the world went completely off the gold standard. The US dollar would then be the world's reserve currency.
Without the discipline of gold, the Bretton Woods agreement fell apart, and central banks were free to create fiat currency out of "thin air," as much of it as they wanted. The ignorant public accepted the intrinsically-worthless fiat money. "Now we're all Keynesians, " said a shaken Nixon.
The phony prosperity since 1971 was built on a Fed-created fantasy currency. Fantasies can only last so long -- until they meet head on with the brick wall of reality.
Thus, I believe that the very fundamentals of this bear market will be an epic clash between a world built on fiat money and a return to the reality of intrinsic wealth.
This bear market will be about the collapse of fiat money. In all history, no fiat currency has ever survived. The fundamental of this bear market will be about the collapse of the world's fiat currency and all the fake prosperity that has been created through fiat currency. In other words, cold reality will prevail. The people of the world will, at last, realize that money by fiat is not reality, it's fantasy money and a dream created by man.
In essence, what we're seeing now is a battle to the death between intrinsic money (gold) and the fiat paper created by the world's central banks.
The magnificent slow motion collapse of the fiat system which you are now witnessing will consume some individuals around you who are not prepared. This time it is global, and when the dust settles you must own real money - gold.

Richard Russell on deflation/inflation
..As I've said a thousand times, Fed Chief Bernanke will absolutely not accept deflation...
Shrewd gold-accumulators are well aware of [this]. As the deflationary and deleveraging forces press on the US economy, the Bernanke Fed is ready to devalue the US dollar in its ("whatever it takes") battle to hold back deflation.
Let's boil the whole thing down to three sentences.
(1)The Fed will not tolerate the growing forces of deflation.
(2) To combat the deflationary forces, the Fed will devalue the dollar by printing trillions more of Federal fiat money.
(3) Once it is realized that the Fed is on the path to devalue the dollar, there will be a panic to buy and own gold.

When to sell gold
Richard Russell on selling gold:
Question -- Russell, you've been bending our ears about buying gold ever since the year 2000. Out with it, at what point or at what level do I sell my gold or silver?
Answer -- An excellent and important question. The answer (and this may not surprise you) is that you NEVER sell your gold or silver. These precious metals are an integral part of your estate and net wealth. I don't care what the current price of gold is, gold represents unencumbered wealth.
Let me give you an example from the rich man's standpoint. The rich man accumulates and holds ten thousand ounces of gold. At one point (such as today) his gold holdings are worth $12 million dollars. He's still rich.
Then gold declines to a price of $700 an ounce during a crushing world deflation. Bankruptcies rule, and the price of anything and everything with debt against it has collapsed. At this point the rich man is holding $7 million worth of gold. The fellow is still very rich. Next comes a run-away inflation and gold climbs to $2500 an ounce. Here the fellow owns $25 million dollars worth of gold. Now he's almost embarrassingly rich, at least in relation to his neighbors.
You see the point. In holding ten thousand ounces of gold, this fellow is always rich, but let's call it shades of rich depending on the economy. So the rich man isn't trying to 'beat" or "out-trade" the gold market. He holds his gold as an eternal store of wealth though good times and bad.
